BIO

I’m a journalist and researcher with a particular eye for details. Currently, I’m a researcher on CNN’s editorial vetting team CNN FactCheck, stationed at the network’s HQ in Atlanta, Georgia.

I’m driven by curiosity and a passion for meaningful storytelling. My work centers around making stories accurate on every level, from the minute details to the contextual framing they exist in. I’ve worked on content ranging from documentaries to deeply researched investigations to real-time political fact checking. I’ve worked overnights and weekends and contributed to CNN’s coverage of consequential international and domestic news events. It’s a thrill to be in the thick of it all and to continue to learn while I’m at it.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2023 with degrees in journalism and public policy and a minor in philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE). I attended school on the Morehead-Cain scholarship, which was a life-changing opportunity that supported my academic and professional journey.

In addition to my coursework as a journalism student, I worked for publications including The Daily Tar Heel and UNC Media Hub and my reporting was published in North Carolina outlets including the Greensboro News & Record and The Charlotte Post. My reporting covered everything from university news to the state’s juvenile justice system.

As a student of public policy, I found special interests in education policy, civic engagement and voting rights, and cross-sector collaboration. I was awarded honors for my thesis titled B Corporations and Cross-Sector Engagement for Public Impact.

I also worked for a social responsibility startup company called Daymaker, where I coordinated corporate giving campaigns for nonprofits serving underrepresented children and youth. I worked directly with nonprofit stakeholders to help meet the needs of the communities they were serving. I also created campaign communications content in video, copy, and graphic form, and co-led a pilot project called Daymaker Clubs — a curriculum-based recurring giving and engagement program distributed to some of the nonprofit partners we worked with. My time at a young, enthusiastic, socially-driven startup introduced me to expansive networks of corporate and nonprofit partners and emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility.

Outside of work, I have two three-year-old rescue pups named Jodie and Jarvis who love exploring the neighborhoods of Atlanta alongside me. I keep up a small garden of veggies and herbs on the stoop of my apartment and a mini jungle of houseplants inside. I’m also a big fan of crafting and thrift shopping… it’s evident in my apartment, too.

If you’re looking to connect, I’d love to grab a coffee! See my contact page.

Here’s Jodie and Jarvis. They’ve spent the last two-ish years by my side exploring Atlanta and beyond — that is, when they aren’t sleeping (they do a lot of sleeping).
